ULTRASOUND FINDINGS: PANCREAS: The main pancreatic duct was normal with no echogenic duct wall, thickening, stricture, stones, or mural nodules. The head measured 2.4 mm. There were copious collateral vessels surrounding the distal esophagus, stomach and perihilar region. The bile duct was minimally dilated to 11 mm containing a plastic biliary stent. The biliary stent was traced towards the ampulla where a 2 cm irregular hypoechoic area was identified. Although this lesion was quite indistinct and looked similar to the rest of the pancreas. FNB with a 25-gauge shark core needle was performed. 2 passes were obtained. The lesion felt very hard on needle puncture. The lesion was very close to a number of collaterals, so further biopsies were not taken. There was also several perihilar lymph nodes. The largest was biopsied with a 25-gauge needle single pass was obtained. The remaining pancreas had a course architecture with linear strands and hyperechoic foci.
ESTIMATED BLOOD LOSS:
Minimal SPECIMENS REMOVED: Specimens were obtained. Specimens were obtained using Rapid Onsite Cytologic Evaluation (ROCE). Cytology slides were prepared at bedside. Specimens were obtained and sent for cytology COMPLICATIONS: There were no complications
IMPRESSIONS:
