For this assignment, you are expected to submit two things:
1. A completed graphic organizer of at least three methods of prevention for six diseases and health
problems
2. Short-answer responses to questions about your personal plan to prevent and manage disease
Step
1: Prepare
for the project.
I a) Read through the guide before you begin so you know the expectations for this project.
b) If there is anything that is not clear to you, be sure to ask your
teacher.
Step 2: Complete the graphic organizer.
a) Find and read resources on prevention of the following diseases and health problems: influenza,
salmonella, type 2 diabetes, HIV
/AIDS, heart disease, and whooping cough.
b) Reliable resources include the National Institutes for Health and the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention.
c) Take notes from the sources about how to prevent the spread of the diseases listed. You will
locate three prevention methods
for each of the diseases listed on the graphic organizer.
Step 3: Complete the short-answer responses about your personal plan to protect yourself from
specific diseases.
