On morning rounds you get a needle stick from a known IV drug user. You report to the emergency room for your initial work up. You are told that the source of the needle stick has refused to be tested for HIV and Hepatitis B. Per state law the source has the right to refuse you have a friend in the chemistry department and you ask him to run tests without a doctor's order discuss the implications should this be allowed
