As for Alicia Garza’s speech addressed the Black Lives Matter movement which lacked power and vigor. She didn’t have that passion throughout the entire speech whereas Martin Luther King did. Garza mostly spoke with a tone of politeness where any individual would be afraid to engage in a discussion about the specific topic with her. The audience did not cheer at every line or paragraph once she would finish speaking; unlike in Martin Luther King’s speech where the entire crowd was rooting for him at every line. Thus, the audience wasn’t captivated as much since Garza didn’t have as much magnitude as King’s speech did. Garza's speech was more conversational and used contemporary language and references.
