Two bikers, Jose and Luis start at the same point at the same time and travel in opposite directions. Jose's average speed is 5 miles per hour more than that of Luis and after 3 hours the bikers are 63 miles apart. Find the average speed of each biker.

Sagot :

To begin with you need to find out Jose's distance. His SPEED is 5 miles PER HOUR. After 3 hours the bikers are 63 miles APART.

Solution 63 divided by 5 = 12.6 miles ( in 1 hour)

So you multiply 12.6 (miles) by 3 (hours) = 37.8

Now you have to find Luis distance which is 100.8 miles.

Finally you can find the average by just adding both distances ( 37.8 + 100.8 = 136.6) and divvied it by the amount of hours (3 hours) and you get you're Answer = 46.2

.... By the way some teachers like it when you round it up but always remember if it's over .5 then round up to the nearest TENTH and if it BELOW .5 then round DOWN to the nearest tenth!

P.s Please tell me if this correct!!!!
