How do yuh solve the equation 6(x-2)+2x-4=8(x-2)+8

Sagot :

The answer is 8!!         :P :I :) :(
Order of Operations so Parenthesis first

1. 6(x-2) distribute the six to get (6x-12)

2. now the other Parenthesis 8(x-2) distribute the 8 to get (8x-16)

1. Parenthesis 1 > (6x-12) + (2x-4) < which is from the left side of the equation the same side as parenthesis #1          2. now add (8x-16) + 8 < from the right side of the equation
1. to get 8x-16                           2. to get 8x-8

now you have 8x-16=8x-8
now move the x variable to one side by subtracting 8x
in this case i chose to minus it from side left it doesn't matter which side
8x-16=8x-8
-8x      -8x
0x-16=-8
    +16=+16
0x=8
its impossible for 0x to equal 8 so the answer is No Solution
