If it wasnt available the mouse could find another food source or would die of no food

As there are no grass or grains available for the mouse to eat then the mouse can not survive for a longer duration and may have to change its course or may die due to starvation and hence the resulting in the no food for the higher tropic levels and thus create a disturbance in the ecological food chain.
