The most ironic part about Montag’s job is the fact that despite being a fire man, someone who in our society as we know it puts out fires, Montag starts them as he locates and burns books in order to appease the need for censorship in the government. Something else that is also ironic is that Firemen in the society of Fahrenheit 451, work to, as stated previously, burn books which are said to defy society, however these firefighters can’t help but be curious as to what information the books must be withholding for them to be seen as so dangerous.
