The reason why i disagree with the statement that war is the highest form of patriotism is the fact that patriotism has to do with ones feelings or love, attachment, commitment for his or her country and war has to do with conflict between two parties which arises as a result of disagreement between them.
Patriotism is driven by someone's love for his country and true love can not initiate war be it within or outside the country. War can be as a result of someone's selfish interest so going to war does not signifies being patriotic, it can be for a gain.
