An organism must adapt to its environment in order for it to survive.
This is evidenced through fossil records, from which we can tell that
those organisms which did not adapt failed to pass their genes onto
offspring. An example of such an adaptation might be giraffes developing
long necks, so as to feed upon foliage other animals are not able to
reach.
