This is because of of the heating effect of a current. The glow is a result of current passing through the filament. The current experiences resistance as a result heat is generated. When resistance is at zero, there potential differences is not needed hence temperature generated will be at a constant.

Initially when the lamp is turned on , the resistance of the lamp is low  hence a huge amount of current passes through it which makes the temperature of the filament to rise. once the filament gets heated , its resistance will increase to a larger extent as resistance increases with increase in temperature.  So this  decreases the current passing through it. Hence the temperature stays constant
