the answer is him. this is the strategy i use to find direct objects, indirect objects, and subject compliments and i hope it can help you too : when there is an action verb predicate in the sentence, look for D.O and I.O.. you can most likely find them by asking yourself questions about the AV pred.. such as : what did doctor give? answer : many tests of intelligence, that’s the D.O.. Who did the doctor give the many tests of intelligence too? answer : him, that’s the I.O.. to find the subject compliment you have to have a linking verb predicate. look for what the noun is being described as. for example take the sentence : The island is pretty. you ask yourself, what is the island? answer : pretty, that’s the subject compliment. i hope this could help !!
