It changes when it’s asked to be rounded. It can be to the nearest tenth, hundredth, etc but the rule is if the decimal is “5 or more, raise that score” “4 or less, give it a rest”
Ex: round 2.7 to the nearest tenth. So because 0.7 is larger than 5 (5 being just the decimal number rather than 5 like what you imagine) , 2.7 will become 3.
Round 7.2 to the nearest tenth: Here, because 2 is less than 5, we will have to change 7.2 into 7. Hope this helps clarify
