Write Hamlet parody?

Sagot :

Answer:

Certainly you could write a parody of Hamlet. If fact, when I was teaching a senior high school English class & we were studying Hamlet, one popular assignment involved taking a scene from the play & acting it out, as a parody. There were some clever creations involving Hamlet as a soap opera, a film noir detective story, an old Western duster, a Japanese Kabuki play, etc. The story of Hamlet is timeless & it can easily be modernized or adapted to make it more ‘user-friendly’ for modern audiences.

I’ve written four parodies of “Hamlet.” One is a Marx Bros. style comedy, one is a horror play, one is a film noir-type mystery play, and one is a Western.

The comedy type play can be found on the Internet at his link: A Night In Elsinore

The others have not been published yet, but here is a link to a review of a production of the horror parody: Theater review: 'Hamlet, Prince of Darkness' at Zombie Joe's Underground

The film noir parody and the Western parody have not yet been produced on the stage.
