The concept of checks and balances applies here. The general idea of this is that no one branch can have too much power, thus preserving the entire government as a democracy. If the President were to be given absolute power or more power than the other branches, the president would then the ability to go forward with his decisions without question. If any one person was given absolute power, they would be a dictator.
