By infecting Native Americans with diseases, Spanish conquistadors were able to conquer Native American empires. Hernán Cortés was one of the many Spanish conquistadors who landed on the coast of Mexico and began his exploration of the Aztec empire's capital, Tenochtitlan, with 600 men, horses, and cannons. He had a translator and advisor named Malinche who assisted them in their exploration. All of these factors contributed to their success in conquering Native American empires.
