I would ask him what his experience was like and what dangers he encountered. I'd also ask him what his motivation was. I think he would respond that the experience was gratifying and that he was happy that he could fight for God. He'd probably tell of stories of nights and "infidels" and his near scrapes with death. I think he'd say his motivation was to serve God.
