The 2 stories are alike in many ways. They both have good meanings to them. They both help people, they both help the environment." Minutes That Matter" and "Food That Fuels." Both stories are Helping People, Helping the Community. First, they both help people. How? Brittany Bergquist, and her brother Robbie, wanted to help soldiers with their phone bills and, most importantly, to talk to their family members, and they did. There are over 7,000 places to drop your self-phone. Cassandra Lin also helped people. How? Cassandra Lin asked the Town Council if they could set up a container to hold the Cooking Oil from all the restaurants. But why? Well, all the cooking oil can clog sewers and drain. It also helps with your house. It can help heat your house. Second, how do both stories help? Brittney and Robbie helped their community. How did they? The program has recycled over ten million phones since it was started. Fun Fact, "over 180 million minutes of talk time is given to the soldiers, and each week" Almost twelve thousand calling cards are sent. Cassandra Lin also helped her community. Cassandra was awarded the Presidential Youth Award for her efforts. Her project was so helpful that in 2012, the governor of Rhode Island made a law requiring all restaurants that use cooking oil to recycle their grease. Today, there are nine places in Rhode Island and Connecticut where residents and restaurants can drop off used cooking oil.

The stories are also very different. They have two different story meanings. They have different ways to help the environment, and they both have different places where they live! First, Settings. Brittney and her brother Robbie live in "Norwell, Massachusetts" and Cassandra lives in "Westerly, Rhode Island." Second, both of the stories have different meanings to them. "Minutes That Matter' is about Brittnay and her brother Robbie helping military soldiers with their phones and helping them pay for their phone bills! Also, they have helped a lot of people in the process! "Food That Fuels" is about helping the environment with food, and how you should always put your Cooking Oil in containers because it can hurt the environment, the people, and their houses.
