Why is sodium chloride not made by reacting sodium with an acid?

Sagot :

Answer:

Even if you could synthesize it this way, sodium's extremely exothermic (and consequently violent) reactivity with acids would make such a procedure extremely dangerous (sodium metal is in any case difficult to handle as it reacts readily with many other substances, including moisture and air). It is much easier to conduct a reaction in the lab with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate and HCI than with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate and HCI for industrial use.

I hope this helps you
