What was the Chinese exclusion act?

This was the act that was passed by the congress on the United States in order to stop the Chinese people from migrating to the United States. The reasons for migration was due to the fact that the Chinese wanted to get a better life and opportunities.

Even though they were only a little population in the United States, this angered the Americans who felt that they were taking up the jobs that was supposed to go for the white people.

The congress passed the act in order to placate the White people and the Asians were excluded from coming to the nation.
