The three major Native groups that were indigenous to the present-day US southwest are:

Where did they live?
The Pima and Hopi were indigenous peoples. The Hopi are classed as Pueblo Indians and are assumed to be derived from the Anasazi.
The Pima people, on the other hand, are regarded to be descendants of the Hohokam civilization. Though they are descended from many cultures, they are all part of the Indian culture.
The Pima people lived mostly in what is now known as central and southern Arizona. In contrast, the Hopi people dwelt in northeastern Arizona.
With regard to the other groups, most populations adapted to the desert climate by settling on waterways that ranged in quality and dependability from big permanent rivers like the Colorado, to subsidiary streams, to washes or gullies that funneled seasonal rains but were dry most of the year.
