Minimum durability required for the stimulus to initiate the response of muscle contraction is known as the threshold stimulus. Twitch occurs if muscle fiber contracts at the command and if the stimulus is strong enough  it reaches the threshold for muscle contraction .

Generally, it is seen that their is no response if the magnitude of the stimulus is below this threshold value.

At low amount of stimulation the muscle fiber does not reach the threshold to produce a contraction. The muscle fiber will remain relaxed, it will not contract. If we gradually increase the stimulation order that it should  reach the threshold the muscle fiber will respond by contracting.
