Using substitution method to solve the system of linear equation, they will save $325 after 5 weeks
System of Linear Equation
System of linear equations is the set of two or more linear equations involving the same variables. Here, linear equations can be defined as the equations of the first order, i.e., the highest power of the variable is 1. Linear equations can have one variable, two variables, or three variables. Thus, we can write linear equations with n number of variables.
In the question given, the system of linear equations are;
s = 60t + 25 ...eq(i)
s = 100 + 45t ...eq(ii)
- s = Amount saved
- t = number of weeks
From equation (i)
s = 60t + 25
Put eq(i) into eq(ii)
60t + 25 = 100 + 45t
60t - 45t = 100 - 25
15t = 75
t = 5
Put t = 5 into equ (i)
s = 60(5) + 25
s = 325
The meaning is that at week 5, they will saved $325
