It took place on 19 October 1469, when Isabella was only six years old, also, the two were second cousins. Because of that, in order for the union to happen, a Papal Bull was required. It was obtained thanks to the help of the Valencian cardinal Rodrigo Borgia (later Alexander VI). 
The marriage of Prince Ferdinand of Aragon and Princess Isabella of Castile created Spain. Together, they made Spain a Catholic nation. They forced the Moors, Jews, and Protestants to convert to Catholic, or they exiled them from the country.
