Sagot :
So the trick I was taught to use was PEMDAS which stands for Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction. You solve the parenthesis first, followed by exponents if there are any. Multiplication and division are equal. So if there's multiplication and division in the problem, you solve the one closest to the left or start of the equation first. The same rules apply for addition and subtraction. They are both equal so you solve the first one first, even if the subtraction is before the addition.
Having exponents in an expression doesn't violate BODMAS rule which stands for Brackets - order of power or roots - Division - multiplication - Addition - subtraction.
What is an exponent ?
Exponents or powers defines how many times a number has been multiplied by it self and when the repetitive multiplication is of large numbers writing in form of exponents can be handful because it is compact.
for example 4³² consists of large number of digits.
Order of operation does not change even with expressions having exponents.
example -
2²+(4-1)÷ 4 × 3
= 4+3÷12
=7÷12
= [tex]\frac{7}{12}[/tex] .
