As a result of the Great Leap Forward there was an industrial production decrease and a power shift in favor of Conservative Communist leaders. There was a decrease in industrial production because Mao Zedong wanted to move the country to an agrarian society and wanted it to become less of an industrialized country. There was a power shift in favor of more conservative leaders than socialist leaders like Mao.
