The Meat Inspection Act (1906) and the Pure Food and Drug Act (1906) were efforts by the federal government to 1. protect public health and safety. Both acts were designed to regulate businesses that provide food and other consumable materials to the public. The goal was to ensure those companies abide by high standards so to prevent to transfer of disease.
