In the standard (x,y) coordinate plane, point A has coordinates (−4,0) and point B has coordinates (0,−8). What are the coordinates of the midpoint of AB? How can i solve this ?

Sagot :

[tex]A (-4,0), \ B (0,-8) \\ \\The \ midpoint \ M \ of \ the \ line \ segment \ joining \ the \ points \\ \\ (x _{1}, y _{1}) \ and \ (x _{2}, \ y _{2}) \ is : \\ \\ M=(\frac{x_{1}+x_{2}}{2};\frac{y_{1}+y_{2}}{2})[/tex]

[tex]M=(\frac{-4+0}{2};(\frac{0+(-8)}{2})\\ \\ M=(\frac{-4}{2}; \frac{-8}{2})\\ \\M=(-2;-4)[/tex]
