How do i multiply a whole number by an improper fraction?

Sagot :

Exactly the same way you would do it if it were a proper fraction . . .
multiply the numerator by the whole number, and then clean up
the fraction.
Turn the whole number into a fraction and then multiply straight across
EX:                    3 times 15/10
Change 3 into 3 over 1   3/1
All you have to do next is multiply 3 by 15 and 1 by 10
3 times 15 is 45 and 1 times 10 is 10
The improper fraction after multiplying is 45/10
If you wanted to simplify that it would be 4 1/2
