PLEASE WRITE THE MEANING OF CINCO DE MAYO, HOW IT CAME TO BE AND HOW IT IS CELEBRATED

Sagot :

Hello!

Cinco De Mayo aka fifth of May is a day where people of mexican culture (and non mexicans) celebrate the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. They would have parades, food, music (mariachi), dancing, and sometimes they would even do battle reenactments. And in Washington they would have Running of the Chihuahuas, where Chihuahuas would race eachother for fun.

Now it came to be because on May 5, 1862, 6,000 French troops stormed Heróica Puebla de Zaragoza to bring it under French rule. Even though the Mexican soldiers were outnumbered they still fought back. And by early evening, the French had retreated. Meaning the Mexican soldiers hve won, and ever since then they would celebrate that victory.

Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.
