In the book Number The Stars, Sweden is the only country that isn't occupied by the Nazis. I know this because the reason why Annmarie and her family wanted to go to Sweden was because Ellen ( a jew ) needed to be taken there because at the time the Nazis were occupying Denmark. i read this book so i know the answer. sweden is still free of the nazi occupation. i know this because in the book it states that sweden is free and all the jewish people are trying to get there by boats.
